I know you know this song.
You’re probably singing right now, smile.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s “Old Town Road” this summer’s hottest song and latest viral sensation.
My favorite part is “Can’t nobody tell me nothing. You can’t tell me nothing!”
Every time he sings that part, I dance extra hard and I’m like, hell yeah, that’s right. That’s true!
And then I thought, if can’t nobody tell me nothing, what am I telling myself?
You know sneaky little thoughts like “It’s not working.” “Are you sure you want to post that?” Or “You’re never going to… whatever that big goal, fill in the blank”
Experts say we have between 12,000 and 60,000 thoughts per day. What? Big range there.
In any case, that’s a lot of thoughts!
And I know some of those ugly thoughts we tell ourselves, we’d never say to a friend or even a stranger.
So how are you talking to yourself? What are you telling yourself?
A few to try are “I got this.” “Nothing has gone wrong here.” “What others think of me is not my business.” And of course – ‘Can’t nobody tell me nothing!!!”
Ok y’all. We got this.
